The Show is a debut single by Australian singer Lenka in 2009. The song has been featured as soundtrack for an Old Navy as well as an Ugly Betty commercial. It was also promoted as an iTunes Free Single of the Week.
I believe that the song writer / artist Lenka deserves to be seen credible, because we all know that most artists nowadays doesn't write songs as legitimate or has a clear message as before. Lenka is one of the few who still writes poems with sense/message and who still creates beautiful melodies. Basing on her autobiography (http://www.lenkamusic.com) she never forgets home or her Australian bush whenever she writes her songs, even if she lives in LA now. She often wants to crack a smile for people in her songs and simply writes about different varieties of life most of the time.

Describe the situation
The speaker is trying to say that life is sometimes unsettling, hard to figure out and sometimes leaving you overwhelmed. Also when it comes to love. "Life is a maze and Love is a riddle/I can't do it alone I've tried/I don't know why" The speaker wishes that the flow of problems in life could at least slow down or stop "slow it down/make it stop/or else my heart is going to pop" and because "it's too much/to be something I'm not". The speaker talks about how she can't afford to live life being someone she's not. The speaker also thinks that some people are trying to fit in "the people follow a sign and synchronize in time" to be happy or accepted. And the speaker tells them that they are missing the point that people can only live once so they should play the role of who they really are in life. "it's a joke, nobody knows/they got a ticket to the show"
How is the person responding?
Even if she's just a little girl, she's trying to be strong and decided to let go of all the peer pressure. "I'm so scared but I don't show it...it's bringing me down I know/I got to let it go" Once she lets go of all the hardships she's dealing with, she will simply have fun "duh dum de dum" and "enjoy the show" and will live the life of being who she is. "i want my money back" meaning she's asking those people for her money to watch her own show and not theirs. She will be focusing on herself now and will start anew to enjoy the role of herself in life.

C-connections and comparisons - what does the poem make you think of, remind you of, connect to (personally and to things you have read about, seen on a movie or television)
The song can actually apply to almost everyone. I can simply connect to it, that in every problem I encounter, I should handle myself well, maybe let go of certain things to move on and just enjoy life to the fullest.
K-kinds of attitude and tone - look at the diction, images and details to find the speaker's attitude, shifts in attitudes, watch for keywords, punctuation, stanza divisions, changes in stanza length, irony, changes in sounds or word uses.

THEME
Putting up a front is not the best option to be happy or to escape from problems involving other people. Instead, portraying who you really are in this world and letting go of things that hurt you and move on is one of the best ways to be happy. As we only have one chance to live our life or "one ticket to enjoy the show".
